Pratap Partnership are delighted to be working with one of the UK' s most well respected chartered accountants, Safferey Champness. They are currently looking to appoint an audit manager to join the existing team based in their growing Harrogate office and to support their new Leeds satellite office.

Their Not-for-Profit practice in Yorkshire has grown significantly in recent years and they now act for a wide range of charitable organisations, including household name charities. They also act for a significant number of Academies and independent schools. This is a great opportunity to join our high calibre team working with our exceptional client base.

The role

We are looking for a dynamic individual to join their existing team based in the growing Harrogate office and to support their new Leeds satellite office. Working within the audit and advisory department you will be part of a talented and collaborative team and will be responsible for a portfolio of charity and other Not-for-profit clients, reporting to the charities partners. Your own portfolio will incorporate a wide variety of clients with incomes from £250,000 to £20million.

In addition to audit the role will include specialist advisory projects such as internal controls reviews, due diligence assignments and providing accounting support and ad hoc advice to clients. You will have the opportunity to work closely with our colleagues in direct tax and VAT as part of the all-round service offering to our clients. You will also take an active role in the preparation and presentation of tenders for new work. There will be opportunities to become involved in training and to help with charity marketing events. The individual

The successful applicant will have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills. The position will require a high level of technical ability and commitment. Candidates should be self-motivated, display a positive approach and have the ability to get things done. In addition, they should possess the confidence and professionalism to establish credibility at all levels, be commercially minded and have a clear perception of client requirements.

Education and experience

Candidates should be ACA/ACCA qualified with a good exam record. The successful candidate will possess a wide range of audit experience. The successful candidate will also have a good knowledge of current issues within the charities sector. Experience of auditing and advising charities and knowledge of the Charities SORP and Academies Accounts Direction and Handbook is highly desirable. Knowledge of the VAT and tax issues affecting charities would be useful, but is not essential.
