Compliance & Enforcement Officer, Boston

Includes travel to local sites across the region - full driving license required. Includes car allowance.
A respected public sector organisation responsible for managing critical infrastructure, environmental assets and flood risk across a significant operational area.
The role:
To help strengthen governance, regulatory compliance, risk management and organisational assurance, working as part of a small close-knit team with regular interaction with members of the public.
Responsibilities:
- Enforcing land drainage laws and byelaws - ensuring members of the public and commercial organisations have completed relevant permission for their development/activity
- Managing the consent process for members or the public and commercial planning applications, according to land drainage and town planning acts
- Ensuring the organisation adheres to the relevant governance and policies
- Administering policies, background paperwork, and health and safety compliance of the organisation's activities.
- Working in a methodical and process-driven manner, following internal controls and external regulatory controls
Required experience:
- Experience in some sort of public-facing enforcement role such as housing, construction, planning, HSE, audit, food safety or environmental is desirable
- Experience working in a heavily regulated environment/industry
- Compliance monitoring or policy adherence monitoring experience, ideally within planning regulations
- A good understanding of health & safety and safe working practices, especially on construction sites or land development sites
- Sector background within local government, infrastructure, utilities, environmental services, housing, engineering or other regulated sectors is helpful
