Deputy Capital Accountant

Location: Main Base Northern General Hospital

The new postholder will work closely with a friendly and supportive team as well as clinical and corporate colleagues to support a first-class Finance team ensuring we provide the best possible care to patients and deliver the best value for money for the people of Sheffield, South Yorkshire and beyond. Strong numerical and team working skills are essential whilst excellent communication skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines are vital.

It is an excellent time to join STH and to be part of the exciting innovation within both the finance department and the wider Trust. This is a key position with the Team which support the Estates and IT Directorates on all financial matters of both a capital and revenue nature.

As Deputy Capital Accountant, you will seamlessly work across the interface of capital and revenue financial management and technical accounting.  This is an office-based role and is newly created.

Duties include:

  • Supporting the management of the Trust Capital Programme, working closely with capital budget holders to establish future year capital and non-recurrent revenue plans, supporting the production of business cases, working with project teams and undertaking the financial evaluation of tenders.
  • Supporting the co-ordination and completion of the Trust’s Capital Accounting input into the In-Year reporting and Annual Accounts processes, particularly regarding leasing and right-of-use asset management.
  • Providing the full range of revenue Financial Management services and advice to the Estates and IT Directorates and support in the preparation of Directorate annual Financial Plans.

Experience required:

  • Previous experience as a Management Accountant
  • You will have excellent interpersonal skills
  • Supervisory experience would be an advantage
  • Studying towards a financial qualification - ACCA/CIMA/ACA
  • Technically minded
  • Fixed asset experience
