Bawtry Mayflower Primary School’s leadership team, children and governors are looking to recruit a dedicated, passionate and highly effective Family Manager/Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead. You will be passionate about safeguarding and child protection; have high standards of yourself and your colleagues; be fully committed to inclusive practice, and have an outstanding knowledge of child protection practices and procedures. 

This is a varied role working closely with parents, carers, the safeguarding team as well as the wider school staff adhering to the school’s safeguarding procedures and policies to promote the welfare and protection of all pupils.  Your role will include supporting children’s wellbeing by building positive relationships with them in a mentoring role, to remove barriers to learning and attendance, and to promote positive mental health. 

We are looking for someone who: 

Has up to date and thorough knowledge of safeguarding and child protection and current wellbeing initiatives 

Previous experience of working with children and young people 

Is an excellent communicator 

Is able to work successfully as part of a team 

Possesses a natural ability to build relationships easily with children, parents and external agencies

The Governors of Bawtry Mayflower Primary School are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and applicants will undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers. The role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS certificate, the role is engaged in regulated activity and will therefore require a children’s barred list check. Shortlisted Applicants will be required to complete a self-disclosure. 

The amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975 (2013 & 2020) provide that certain spent convictions and cautions are ‘protected’ and are not subject to disclosure to employers, and cannot be taken into account.
