A £3.5m turnover SME is looking to recruit a Financial Controller, an owner-managed civil and structural engineering company based in Sheffield.

The role is responsible for managing, developing, and executing all finance department responsibilities and strategies to achieve the business objectives. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and external accountants to create and implement effective financial management of the businesses. Your goal will be to drive financial efficiencies, effective reporting, and financial cohesion for the business.

Reporting to the Managing Director you will be responsible for:

  • Preparing monthly management accounts and year-end accounts.
  • Accruals and prepayments.
  • Balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Planning and forecasting.
  • Budgets.
  • Maintaining the ledgers.
  • Credit control.
  • Bank reconciliations.

The Person:

  • Previous experience working for an SME is essential.
  • You must be “hands-on” with a flexible working approach.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills are essential.
