A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Financial Controller to join a growing business in the Glossop area. Working within a friendly office environment and reporting in to the Managing Director this role will appeal to those wishing to progress their career within a successful owner managed business. 

The role will oversee the recording and keeping of accurate financial records, provide financial support to the business including reporting key financial information as required. You will work alongside key members of the team ensuring they are kept up to date with relevant financial information to inform decision making, therefore you will be a team player with strong analytical and communication skills who can operate at pace to demanding timescales. Other key attributes of the role are attention to detail along with strong organisational skills.

 

Key duties will involve:

 

  • Support the MD/FD with all company financial activities and investments.
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely delivery of the month-end reporting timetable including the preparation of draft monthly MI including month-end journals and relevant supporting reconciliations and schedules.
  • Create monthly and annual reports to identify results, trends, and financial forecasts by specific deadlines.
  • Regular Operational and SG&A variance analysis and investigation to understand key drivers of the business and monitor relevant KPIs to support these. Review the variance analysis with the relevant budget holders.
  • Ensure that all financial transactions are correctly and accurately recorded, filed, and reported.
  • Develop and implement financial systems to prevent errors in data input and calculations.
  • Manage cash flow by tracking transactions and regularly reviewing internal reports.
  • Motivate and lead the finance team members by clarifying roles, providing feedback and support.
  • Establish and implement financial reporting systems to comply with government regulations and legislation.
  • Performing internal audits of financial systems and making recommendations for process improvements and internal control strengthening across the company.
  • Collaborate with external auditing service providers to ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements, including liaison with external accountants to support the annual statutory accounts process.
  • Take a lead role in the preparation of annual budgets for the company based on research and internal/external data analysis.
  • Collate business information to produce a rolling twelve month forecast and quarterly formal forecast updates to include profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow.
  • Review all financial plans and budgets regularly to look for cost reduction opportunities.
  • Advise co-workers and stakeholders of any financial changes affecting the business.
  • Report to the Managing Director with timely and accurate financial information.
  • Working with the Managing Director and external consultants as required to drive continuous improvement and to support business growth.

 

PERSONAL PROFILE:

  • Fully qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with 2-5 years’ experience as a Financial Controller with a proven track record, preferably within the manufacturing industry.
  • Working knowledge of a manufacturing process.
  • Strong technical accounting ability.
  • Experience of preparation of monthly accounts and financial analysis is essential.
  • Proven track record of mentoring and developing a team.
  • IT literate with advanced working knowledge of MS applications, including Microsoft Excel, Access and Word. Experience of Pegasus Opera and Epicor would also be advantageous.
  • High attention to detail alongside excellent organisational and problem solving skills.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confident, enthusiastic self-motivated and determined.
