Introducing an exciting opportunity for experienced financial leaders This is your chance to make a mark in a socially important, rapidly growing company as Group Financial Controller.

This is a newly created role, at a time when the business is delivering high levels of growth and the Finance function is going through a period of major transition. The Finance team needs to be repurposed for a more corporate environment post private ownership and the Group FC role will play a major part in bringing enhanced financial accounting and reporting procedures to the business.

The role is by no means BAU – there is a period of transformational change required in the core processes of the finance function and this position will lead the way on the financial accounting, audit, tax and statutory accounts optimisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the charge in transforming our financial accounting, audit, tax, and statutory accounts procedures.
  • Take ownership of financial accounts, audit, and tax matters, driving a step change in our financial acumen and reducing reliance on third-party advisors.
  • Prepare statutory accounts, manage audits, and act as the resident tax expert, overseeing all tax matters for the Group.
  • Contribute to forecasting, budgeting, liquidity management, and external reporting schedules.
  • Manage liquidity matters for the Group, including cash flow planning and medium-term funding solutions.
  • Optimize relationships with third parties, including auditors, tax advisors, HMRC, and financial institutions.
  • Oversee employee benefits, payroll matters, and continuously improve reporting and processes.
  • Provide support to senior executives and mentor the team, fostering a culture of personal development and succession planning.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Fully qualified ACA, ideally with Big 4 training.
  • Previous experience as a Group Financial Controller (5 years+).
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build cross-functional relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive under pressure while meeting strict deadlines.
