Group Financial Controller

This newly created role presents an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact during a period of rapid growth and transformational change. As Group Financial Controller, you will play a key role in evolving the Finance function to meet the needs of a more corporate environment, focusing on financial accounting, reporting, and tax optimisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all aspects of financial accounting, audits, and taxes (PAYE, VAT, CT, and annual returns), building capability within the team and reducing reliance on external advisers.
- Oversee statutory accounts preparation, audit processes, and compliance.
- Act as the go-to tax expert, managing HMRC engagement, investment tax treatments, and other tax matters.
- Contribute to strategic initiatives, including forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management, while supporting funding solutions and external reporting.
- Shape and uphold Group accounting policies, ensuring clarity and consistency.
- Build and nurture relationships with external partners, including auditors, banks, and advisers.
- Drive continuous improvement, enhancing processes and reporting.
- Mentor and develop team members, promoting growth, collaboration, and succession planning.
- Reimagine the AR function, introducing fresh leadership and innovative practices.
About You:
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA preferred, ideally Big 4 trained).
- 5+ years’ experience as a Group Financial Controller.
- Strong communicator and relationship-builder with a collaborative leadership style.
- Analytical thinker with a proactive and solutions-oriented mindset.
- Empathetic and adaptable, thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Experience in the healthcare sector is advantageous.
