We are seeking a strategic and hands-on HR Manager to take full ownership of the HR function at a succesful UK manufacturing business.This is the No.1 HR position, reporting directly to the site leadership team and playing a critical role in driving both operational HR excellence and cultural transformation.
The Opportunity:
This is more than just a BAU role. It's about modernising people practices, building strong union relationships, and shaping the workforce of the future. You’ll be the go-to expert for leadership, bringing expertise in employee engagement, workforce planning, and organisational change – all in a complex, unionised environment.
Key Focus Areas:

Lead the entire HR function – from strategy to shop floor

Act as a senior advisor on structure, succession, and culture

Build and sustain positive union partnerships – lead negotiations, consultations, and resolutions

Drive recruitment, talent, L&D, and leadership development

Embed a culture of continuous improvement and employee wellbeing

Ensure compliance with employment law and internal policies

Use HR data and insights to support smarter decision-making
What We’re Looking For:

Proven HR leadership in manufacturing or heavy industry

Strong union experience, including collective bargaining and employment law

Commercially savvy and confident influencing at all levels

Resilient, solutions-focused, and people-first in approach

CIPD Level 5+

Comfortable with HRIS and data-led people strategies
