Financial Accountant – 9 Month Maternity Cover

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a qualified accountant to join a successful and growing business in Leeds on a 9-month maternity cover contract. The Role
Working as part of a high-performing group finance team, you will support month-end, statutory and compliance processes across several entities. This is a broad role with plenty of variety and autonomy, ideal for someone who enjoys ownership, accuracy and working with stakeholders across the business.
Key responsibilities include:

Preparing period-end journals, analysis and commentary on key balance sheet and P&L areas

Completing monthly, quarterly and annual balance sheet reconciliations to audit-ready standards

Managing weekly and monthly bank reconciliations, including FX retranslation

Preparing cost centre reporting packs for functional leads, including analysis and variance commentary

Supporting year-end statutory accounts and audit processes

Assisting with corporation tax computations and working with external advisors

Helping prepare quarterly VAT returns and ensuring compliance with HMRC requirements

Completing confirmation statements and supporting Companies House filing obligations

Assisting with employment tax matters including P11Ds and PSA
-
Supporting overseas subsidiaries as part of a wider group finance structure

Preparing intra-group recharge workings, including overheads and intercompany loans
-
Contributing to weekly cashflow reporting
-
Supporting ad-hoc monthly/quarterly reporting and technical accounting queries

Providing general support across the finance team during peak periods
About You
We’re looking for someone who brings a proactive mindset and strong technical ability. You’ll be comfortable working independently, managing deadlines and communicating confidently across the business.
You will ideally be:

Qualified or QBE with relevant experience

Competent with Excel

Detail-focused and logical, able to work with high volumes of data

A team player with excellent communication skills

Organised, adaptable and able to manage changing priorities

Someone with a track record of delivering to deadlines in a similar finance role
