Interim Head of Finance – Sheffield

Immediate Start | Site-based | Interim (3–6 months, subject to extension)

About the Role

We’re partnering with a high-growth, investment-driven business in Sheffield seeking an Interim Head of Finance to take charge of the finance function during a critical growth phase. You will report directly to the CFO and act as a strategic and operational finance leader, embedding structure, delivering clarity and supporting key investment decisions across the business.

This is a hands-on leadership position, ideal for a seasoned finance professional comfortable working in a dynamic environment with evolving challenges.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Support the CFO in defining and executing financial strategy aligned with growth and profitability goals

• Collaborate with the senior leadership team to deliver company-wide strategic objectives

• Lead investment modelling, CAPEX planning and financial evaluation of new initiatives

Financial Planning & Analysis

• Full ownership of P&L (costs & EBITDA)

• Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling; provide insights to business leaders

• Partner with department heads to understand, manage and optimise costs

Operational Finance & Reporting

• Manage working capital, cashflow forecasting, and group reporting

• Produce accurate monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts, KPI dashboards and cashflow reports

• Develop tools and reporting infrastructure for covenant and funding management

Team & Controls

• Lead and mentor a finance team of ~5 (including the Financial Controller)

• Maintain strong financial controls, compliance with UK GAAP & IFRS, and coordinate internal / external audits

• Oversee tax compliance and reporting

Systems & Processes

• Lead evaluation and improvement of financial systems, processes and controls

• Prepare for a planned ERP upgrade to SAP (expected 2026/27) and align current systems to support scalability

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Essential

• ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified

• Strong technical accounting knowledge, experience with IFRS and UK GAAP

• Prior experience in a senior finance leadership role (Head of Finance, Finance Director, or equivalent)

• Proven track record in process improvement and driving change

• Strong commercial and analytical acumen

• Excellent communication skills, able to engage with finance and non-finance stakeholders

• Ability to lead, inspire and deliver results through a small team

Desirable

• Experience in a group-structured environment

• Previous exposure to manufacturing or product-based business operations
