Management Accountant - Commercial - Hybrid working

Expanding PE backed business on the outskirts of Wakefield seek to appoint a Management Accountant to join their friendly team. The business offer a hybrid and flexible working pattern and there is scope to progress your career as the business continues to grow. 

The key purpose of this post is:

Helping deliver a leading edge & highly commercial finance strategy as part of the Finance team in a successful, ambitious and passionate business (£65m+ turnover). The role involves producing meaningful and insightful financial information to the Divisional Senior Leadership team whilst supporting the Financial Controller in all financial aspects within the division. The role requires a business partnering approach to be the first point of call for financial questions and queries from the operational teams within the division, supporting the stakeholders in achieving their own objectives.

Key responsibilities will involve:

  1. Contribute to the achievement of the company's business objectives by providing advice and guidance on financial management.
  2. Support in the production of the divisional operating budgets, helping identify risks and opportunities within the Budget values.
  3. Support in production of monthly management accounts, Budgets and forecasts that comply with accounting standards and Sigma policies, and are delivered in a timely manner. Ability to explain key variances, trends and outlook to the leadership team.
  4. Support in the preparation of divisional balance sheet reconciliations on a timely basis, identifying any risks/ opportunities.
  5. Carry out all responsibilities to the required standard and embrace the PRIDE values.
  6. Leverage functionality of existing systems and tools to ensure effective and efficient financial management within the company.
  7. Ensure compliance of the delegated authorities matrix within the division.
  8. Help maximise cash within the division through proactive, effective and proportionate management of working capital, fostering a culture of cash-backed profit. 
  9. Support the Finance Director from a financial perspective through applicable bid/tendering processes

The role would suit: 

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ ACCA/ CIMA) or latter stages of qualification
  • Business partnering ethos
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge
  • Excellent analytical / IT skills with experience of managing financial and management reporting, financial modelling, processes and systems.
  • Experience of Finance / ERP systems, as well as strong Excel and other Office software experience
  • Strong communication skills across all stakeholders
  • Clear and concise reporting skills. Ability to deliver key messages
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Planning organising and adhering to tight deadlines
  • Ability to use own initiative and a problem solving mindset
