Senior Management Accountant

Wakefield, West Yorkshire

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a qualified Senior Management Accountant to join a growing and highly successful professional services business in West Yorkshire. This role offers hybrid working with the expectation of 2 days in the office a week.

The business has experienced significant growth in recent years with an increase in both turnover and profits. As the organisation continues to grow in both scale and complexity, it is investing further in its finance function.

This is a particularly attractive opportunity for someone looking for more than a traditional Management Accountant position. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you will become a key member of the finance team and operate as a genuine No.2, with broad exposure across financial reporting, forecasting, cash flow, governance and finance transformation.

The role

The position will combine hands-on accounting with opportunities to improve how the finance function operates. Responsibilities will include:

  • Preparation and ownership of monthly management accounts and reporting
  • Budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow management
  • Balance sheet management and reconciliations
  • Statutory and group reporting
  • Supporting year-end audit and tax requirements
  • Business partnering with senior stakeholders across the organisation
  • Maintaining and improving financial controls and governance
  • Supporting and developing junior members of the finance team
  • Identifying opportunities to simplify and automate existing processes
  • Involvement in automation and AI projects, including invoice processing, supplier reconciliations and cash-flow processes

The person

We are looking for an ACA, ACCA or CIMA-qualified accountant with post-qualified experience who is ready to take greater ownership and responsibility within a growing finance function.

Importantly, the business isn't looking for someone who has simply performed the same month-end processes year after year. They are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate tangible achievements, projects and improvements throughout their career.
