Stand Alone HR Advisor / Manager

A superb stand alone HR role working in Worksop - would suit an HR Advisor looking for a next step or HR Manager looking for a stand alone role.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for the efficient running of the HR function and to provide proactive HR advice & support across the Group
  • Line management responsibility for the HR Assistant
  • Continuously improving and developing systems and procedures to ensure they meet business requirements, including the standardisation of policies and procedures where appropriate
  • Assists with the recruitment of staff and associated responsibilities (advertising, writing up job descriptions, CV short-listing, interviews, contracts, taking up references and the induction of new staff). 
  • Dealing with leavers, terminations, and the calculation of final payments
  • Maintenance of Personnel files, Job Descriptions, Training and H&S records, ensuring they are accurate, complete, and up to date
  • Undertake an audit of all Personnel records and contracts and flag up areas of discrepancies
  • Provide assistance with performance and absence management, supporting Department Managers with employee issues, leading on grievance and disciplinary meetings and providing advice and guidance as appropriate
  • Updating and maintaining the Employee and Handbooks to ensure they are in line with current employment law and to discuss training needs with managers to proactively manage welfare and compliance needs
  • To manage ongoing GDPR (Data Protection) requirements, Pensions Auto-Enrolment matters, Apprentice Levy, and other statutory requirements and providing general update and advice on policy and legislation changes
  • Preparation of staff productivity reports and devising new and appropriate employee performance and development reviews and reports
  • Working and liaising with Payroll and helping where appropriate
  • This is a developing function within a fast growing and dynamic business, and it is expected that responsibilities and focus will need to evolve over time to suit the needs and demands of the business.
  • Coordination and finalisation of monthly payroll for factory and head office
  • Year end payroll activities and HMRC work
  • Working with the management team for objectives and appraisal


Person specification

  • Previous experience working in a Stand Alone HR role as a Senior HR Advisor or HR Manager
  • CIPD Qualified to a minimum of Level 5 ideally Level 7
  • Must have successfully held a similar stand-alone role
  • Strong working knowledge and understanding of Employment Law
  • Confidentiality and ability to work in a discreet and responsible manner
  • Clear verbal communication skills with the ability to conduct challenging conversations and having first class report writing skills with an excellent command of the English language
  • Commercial awareness. impeccable attention to detail and an ability to ask critical questions
  • Ability to build trust with People and Managers
  • Good computer literacy with a high level of fluency in Excel and Word
  • Able to work on their own initiative, and a good problem solver
