Experienced Transactional Manager required for a large UK market leader based in Pontefract. Established over 100 years now they have branches throughout the UK.

The main purpose of the role is to support the Finance Manager and wider business in all aspects of transactional finance by ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the credit control and purchase ledger team.

Duties include:

  • Management of CC and AR teams including recruitment, appraisals, holiday requests, performance management, sickness/absence and personal improvement/training plans
  • Monitor and report the team’s KPIs to management, taking appropriate action where needed
  • Organising workloads and supporting the team through the day to day running of the transactional department
  • Maintaining strong relationships with other departments, offices and department managers
  • Assist with developing and maintaining internal audit processes and procedures
  • Liaising with key external stakeholders, including suppliers & customers
  • Liaising with external auditors as and when required
  • Responsible for the month end ledger closures and reconciliations to the balance sheet, including review and analysis of aged debtor & creditor balances
  • Dealing with complex or time sensitive queries from suppliers, colleagues and management
  • Approving and reviewing customer credit limits in line with policy
  • Preparation and submission of supplier payments
  • Managing the bank accounts (GBP/USD/AUD/EUR)
  • Daily posting of bank transactions including reconciliations on a daily and monthly basis
  • Maintaining the EUR & GBP invoice discounting facilities
  • Management of all customer and supplier accounts including regular reviews and reporting of aged items, escalation and resolution of issues/queries, allocation of all payments, chasing of unapproved invoices and GRNI items, ensuring completion of statement reconciliations
  • EC sales and intrastat returns
  • Preparation, submission and reconciliation of VAT returns
  • Assisting with daily cashflow forecasting
  • Other ad hoc duties as required

This search is not limited to any industry. Strength of character and people management skills are essential to this recruitment:

  • Qualified AAT or later stages
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential
  • You must be computer literate with Intermediate Excel skills (Pivot tables, V Lookups etc)
  • You must be a self-starter, proactive, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills are required
