The purpose of the Purchase Ledger Clerk is to support the accurate and timely process of supplier invoices whilst contributing to the financial integrity and operational efficiency of the business.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, duties will include:

• Batching, coding and inputting invoices onto the system. 
• Ensuring all invoices are authorised for payment. 
• Assisting with month-end reporting. 
• Ensuring suppliers are paid according to terms. 
• Dealing with queries. 
• Liaising with internal staff and suppliers to resolve issues. 
• Other ad hoc duties as required.

Your core responsibility will be Accounts Payable, but this is a much broader role than a traditional Purchase Ledger position. 

• Process invoices, match POs and reconcile supplier statements
• Prepare supplier payment runs and deal with supplier queries
• Support payroll administration, including overtime, absence and holiday information
• Provide cover across Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger, Credit Control and Cashbook
• Support month-end and year-end activities
• Work closely with the Finance Director, Financial Accountant and Management Accountant
• Maintain accurate records and support audit requirements
• Help collate and maintain recycling and environmental compliance data
• Prepare reports and spreadsheets using Excel
• Get involved in process improvements and ad hoc finance projects

You will need;

• Previous accounts or bookkeeping experience, ideally with a good understanding of Purchase Ledger/Accounts Payable.
• You will be organised, accurate and confident using Excel, with the ability to manage your own workload while being happy to support colleagues across the wider Finance team.
• AAT or AAT study would be advantageous, as would experience of payroll, an ERP system
• Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is reliable, proactive and keen to develop in a varied finance role.

Following a number of recent acquisitions and a European-wide ERP roll-out the business needs additional support with monthly reporting, audit prep and streamlining processes and procedures.

£60-70k + Bonus with hybrid working 2 or 3 days at home

This role could be 4 or 5 days a week

• Timely and accurate monthly/quarterly reporting of group management accounts
• Providing information to external tax advisers for tax provision
• Quarterly reporting of budgets and forecasts

• VAT reporting for UK entities and calculation of restricted VAT charges to be expensed
