We are delighted to have partnered with Skills for Security to recruit their new Finance Director. This is a remote position with occasional travel to one of their UK locations.

The business has grown 600% in the past 4 years with a clear vision to become a leading national training provider with centres already established in Warrington, Walsall and Watford. Their ambitious growth plans will continue through organic growth, a targeted sales strategy and a number of key acquisitions with a view to the completion of a sale in 2-3 years time. 

The Finance Director will play an integral part in this process and be a vital member of the Senior Leadership team. 

Reporting to the Managing Director and Board, your role will oversee all financial aspects of business, drive the company’s financial strategy and prepare for Private Equity investment. You will be responsible for preparing the management accounts and assessing the company's financial performance against the 6-year plan. You’ll work with all business departments to help them plan and deliver their budgets.

Role requirements:

  • Prepare the monthly management accounts and year-end statutory accounts in a timely way.
  • Work with the senior management team (SMT) to prepare the annual budgets, ensuring these are in line with the 6-year plan.
  • Proactively drive the company's financial planning by analysing its performance and risks.
  • Advise the SMT on financial performance and implement recommendations to achieve the most profitable results for the business.
  • Manage and supervise others within the finance function.
  • Retain constant awareness of the company’s financial position and act to prevent problems.
  • Liaise with the auditor on the statutory accounts.
  • Conduct analysis to make cash and profit forecasts and report to the SMT and Board.
  • Ensure adherence to HMRC and Companies Act regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with Department for Education technical funding rules for apprenticeships.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Head of Finance/Finance Director in a fast-paced and demanding environment
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles, laws and best practices.
  • Solid knowledge of financial analysis and forecasting.
  • Proficient in using MS Office and financial management software (e.g. Xero).
  • An analytical mind with a strategic ability.
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • BSc/BA in accounting, finance or a relevant field; MSc/MA is desirable.
  • Fully qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
